Advice for Gemstone Jewellery Care
Different gemstones have different levels of hardness - some gemstones that are soft are coral, lapis lazuli, opal, pearl, and turquoise and special attention should be paid when cleaning them.
Also opal, pearl, turquoise are porous and should not be immersed in water.
Some gemstones are damaged by the sun and should not be left out for long periods of time in direct sunlight.
The following gemstones are prone to change colour or become paler if left in direct sunlight: amethyst, aquamarine, aventurine, citrine, rose quartz, smoky quartz.
Wipe gemstones with a clean soft lint free cloth - sometimes paler gemstones start to go black where they meet the sterling silver a very gentle soap solution used with a very soft brush will usually clean them - if you are unsure on any item, please take it for professional cleaning.
